Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill 588 - Governor's Office of Crime Control and Prevention - Law Enforcement Equipment Fund.

This bill establishes a Law Enforcement Equipment Fund to assist local law enforcement agencies in acquiring equipment needed to address violent crime.

Senate Bill 453, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House Bill 588.
