Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill 1059 - Prince George's County - Technology Training Center Loan of 1999.

This bill extends the deadline from June 1, 2001 to June 1, 2002 for the Board of Trustees of The Patriots, Inc., as grantee, to provide matching funds of up to $300,000 for the Prince George's County - Technology Training Center Loan of 1999. The bill also changes the location of the project and authorizes the required match to consist of real property.

Senate Bill 723, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House Bill 1059.
