Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 300 - Law Enforcement Officers' Pension System - Benefits.

This pension bill increases the benefit formula of the "retirement tier" of the Law Enforcement Officers Pension System from a 2.0% accrual rate to 2.3% of a member's average final compensation for each year of service.

House Bill 315, which was passed by the General Assembly and becoming law without my signature, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill 300.
