Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 506 - Harford County - Sheriff - Salary.

This bill increases the salary of the Sheriff of Harford County from $78,000 to $84,000 beginning with the next term of office in January 2003. The salary increases to $90,000 in January 2004.

House Bill 354, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill 506.
