Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 833 - Election Law - Statewide Voting System.

This bill requires the State Board of Elections, in consultation with local election boards, to select a uniform statewide voting system for polling places and absentee voting.

House Bill 1457, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill 833.
