Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 888 - Wicomico County - Refunds of Local Transfer Tax.

This bill authorizes Wicomico County to refund transfer taxes enacted on May 31, 2000 by the local emergency ordinance that was later rejected by the voters at referendum on November 7, 2000.

House Bill 1436, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill 888.
