Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 457 - State Board of Pilots - Sunset Extension and Program Evaluation.

This bill extends the termination date for the State Board of Pilots and requires a sunset evaluation of the board. The bill also clarifies that the board is general funded and codifies specified fiscal practices carried out on behalf of the board by the Association of Maryland Pilots.

House Bill 489, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill 457.
