Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, today I have vetoed House Bill 294 - Consumer Protection - Maryland Consumer Protection Act - Private Rights of Action.

This bill alters the scope of the Maryland Consumer Protection Act to exclude specified private rights of action concerning the professional services of specified health care providers Senate Bill 283, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House Bill 294.
