Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, today I have vetoed Senate Bill 385 - Montgomery County - Deputy Clerk or Sheriff - Oath of Office.

This bill requires that every deputy clerk or sheriff in Montgomery County take and sign the oath or affirmation prescribed by Article I, Section 9 of the Maryland Constitution.

House Bill 401, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill 385.
