Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, today I have vetoed House Bill 1261 - Legislative Community Initiatives Loan of 2004 - Montgomery County - Melvin J. Berman Hebrew Academy Auditorium. This bill amends Chapter 204 of the Acts of 2003, as amended, to allow the matching fund for the Montgomery County - Melvin J. Berman Hebrew Academy Auditorium project to consist of funds expended prior to the effective date of the Act, but after June 1, 1998; etc. Senate Bill 200, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House Bill 1261.
