Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, today I have vetoed House Bill 1354 - Consolidation of State Forest and Park Services Rangers and Natural Resources Police - Exemption from Probationary Status. This emergency bill establishes an exemption for specified employees of the State Forest and Park Service from the probationary time period for a Natural Resources police officer. Senate Bill 380, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House Bill 1354.
