Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, today I have vetoed Senate Bill 701 - Nursing Homes and Assisted Living Facilities - Quality of Care Oversight.

This bill changes the name of the Oversight Committee on Quality of Care in Nursing Homes to the Oversight Committee on Quality of Care in Nursing Homes and Assisted Living Facilities. SB 701 also alters the membership, duties, and reporting requirements of the Oversight Committee and repeals a termination provision. House Bill 893, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill 701.
