Nurse Psychotherapists - Authority to Prescribe and Dispense Drugs

Synopsis:

Authorizing nurse psychotherapists to prescribe specified drugs and to prepare and dispense samples or starter dosages of drugs under specified circumstances; requiring nurse psychotherapists who prepare and dispense drugs to comply with specified requirements; prohibiting nurse psychotherapists from directing a patient to a specific pharmacy; and requiring the State Board of Nursing to adopt regulations jointly with the State Board of Physician Quality Assurance and the State Board of Pharmacy.
