Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill 677.

This bill authorizes the District Court to issue an abatement order as part of the adjudication of a civil zoning citation issued by a county zoning inspector. Under current law the District Court may only issue an abatement order for citations issued by municipal zoning inspectors.

Senate Bill 375, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on May 27, 1999, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House Bill 677.
