Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill 1169.

This bill permits the Calvert County Historical Society to use the proceeds of the Calvert County Historical Society - "Linden" Project Loan of 1998 for construction of associated parking facilities and permits the matching fund to consist of in kind contributions or funds expended prior to the effective date of the bill.

Senate Bill 752, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on May 13, 1999, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House Bill 1169.
