Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 82.

This bill extends the sunset date for the State Board of Law Examiners from July 1, 1999 to July 1, 2004 and increases the cap on the examination fee paid to the board by each applicant for admission to the Bar from $100 to $150.

House Bill 35, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on May 13, 1999, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill 82.
