Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 427.

This bill allows the Department of Natural Resources to increase the cost of Chesapeake Bay sport fishing licenses by $2, increase the cost of a Chesapeake Bay sport fishing license (pleasure boat decal) for a boat registered in any state from $30 to $40, increases the commission of a Chesapeake Bay sport fishing license agent from $0.50 to $1.00 and repeals the striped bass stamp and tag requirements.

House Bill 733, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on May 27, 1999, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill 427.
