Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 534.

This bill requires the Caroline County Board of Education, upon request by the county commissioners, to provide with its annual budget the program implications of recommendations for reductions to or increases in its annual budget.

House Bill 597, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on May 27, 1999, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill 534.
