Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 369 - Maryland Horse Industry Board - Sunset Extension and Program Evaluation.

This bill extends the sunset date for the Maryland Horse Industry Board from July 1, 2001 to July 1, 2006. The bill also requires the board to include information regarding staff needs, the structure of its fees and a long-term financing mechanism in its September 30, 2001 report to the General Assembly.

House Bill 299, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on May 11, 2000, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill 369.
