Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 849 - Department of Agriculture - Maryland Crop Insurance Premium Program.

This bill establishes a Maryland Crop Insurance Premium Program to encourage eligible farmers to participate in the Federal Crop Insurance Program administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

House Bill 1299, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me today, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill 849.
