Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 902 - Dorchester County - Stanley Institute: Rock School House Restoration Loan of 1998.

This bill extends the deadline from June 1, 2000 to June 1, 2002 by which the Board of Directors of The Harriet Tubman Organization, Inc. and The Friends of Stanley Institute, as joint grantees, may provide matching funds of up to $50,000 for the Stanley Institute: Rock School House Restoration Loan of 1998.

House Bill 1431, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on April 25, 2000, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill 902.
