Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill 790 - Maryland Economic Development Corporation.

This bill expands the corporate powers and legislative intent of the Maryland Economic Development Corporation (MEDCO) to allow MEDCO to develop property and promote economic development in all areas of the State.

Senate Bill 486, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House Bill 790.
