Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 61 - Boiler and Pressure Vessel Safety - Regulation of Inspectors, Owners, Repair Companies, and Insurance Companies.

This bill alters three broad areas of the Maryland Boiler and Pressure Vessel Safety Law; the responsibilities of insurance firms; the authority of the Safety Inspection Unit; and the responsibilities of boiler and pressure vessel owners, operators and repair technicians.

House Bill 148, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill 61.
