Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 466 - Electric Industry Restructuring - Small Rural Electric Cooperatives - Exemptions.

This bill exempts certain rural electric cooperatives from certain requirements and prohibitions related to the restructuring of the electric industry under Maryland's Electric Customer Choice and Competition Act of 1999.

House Bill 454, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill 466.
