Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 571 - Harford County - State's Attorney - Salary.

This bill increases the salary of the State's Attorney of Harford County from $80,320 to $85,160 beginning with the next term of office in January 2003. The salary increases to $90,000 beginning in January 2004.

House Bill 341, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill 571.
