Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 685 - Prince George's County - Laurel Regional Hospital Loan of 1999.

This bill extends the deadline from June 1, 2001 to June 1, 2003 for the Board of Directors of Laurel Regional Hospital to provide matching funds of up to $895,000 for the Prince George's County - Laurel Regional Hospital Loan of 1999.

House Bill 972, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill 685.
