Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 142 - State Highways - Designation - Vietnam Veterans Highway.

This bill requires the State Highway Administration to designate the portion of Maryland Route 157 known as the Peninsula Expressway as the Vietnam Veterans Highway.

House Bill 111, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill 142.
