Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 259 - Prince George's County - Mt. Rainier Revitalization Project Loan of 2000.

This bill extends the deadline, from June 1, 2002 to June 1, 2004, for the Board of Directors of the Housing Initiative Partnership, Incorporated, as grantee, to provide matching funds.

House Bill 476, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill 259.
