Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 702 - Dorchester County - County Commissioners - Salaries and Compensation.

This bill increases the salary of the President of the Dorchester County Commissioners from $12,000 to $15,000 and increases the salaries of other county commissioners from $12,000 to $14,000 beginning with the next term of office. The bill also provides that county commissioners may receive other compensation in addition to the compensation received for expenses incurred in the performance of their official duties.

House Bill 222, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill 702.
