Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, today I have vetoed House Bill 1319 - Local Governments - Deposits of Unexpended or Surplus Money.

This bill authorizes local governments to deposit unexpended or surplus money into specified depository institutions under specified circumstances. Additionally, the bill provides that specified deposits are not required to be collateralized under specified circumstances. Senate Bill 774, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House Bill 1319.
