Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, today I have vetoed House Bill 1531 - Mining - Bond Supplement Reserve - Payments and Assessments.

This bill increases the amount of money needed in a mining bond supplement reserve to temporarily end a specified payment, to temporarily end a specified assessment, and to resume a specified assessment. Senate Bill 968, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House Bill 1531.
